Memory serigraph

This print is not about a particular memory, but about human memory in general. Late last year I found out my Mom's has Alzheimer's, and it had become pretty bad. I'm an only child, and she needed me to come in and take over some things she has always taken pride in doing for herself. It was a hard time, and in between working toward a new way for her to be safe and happy, every evening I did some drawing to help keep my own sanity intact. Those drawings became this.

There are many references here, one is the central seahorse that represents the hippocampus, a part of the brain that helps with long-term memory and spatial navigation. A portion of these sales will go to Alzheimer's research, which seems very close to figuring out this tragic disease.

Stoney Run 3D serigraph

Stoney Run is a crooked road way out in the boonies of Madison County Kentucky where I lived for a while when I was a kid. The farm was basically a knobby hill that ended in the Kentucky River. My parents bought the the place to increase their "tobacco base", which was actually grown on a much nicer farm. My Mom drove me in to school every day when we lived there, and I have strong memories of learning every song on the AM radio, on those trips. Buck Owens to Tommy James... That little farm seemed 50 years in the past even in those days.
